Surface Pro 3 short battery life

I have the surface pro 3, 512GB, 

I was doing a local presentation today using Chrome (64 bit). I started with 100% charge and after 95 minutes the batter drained to 7% and died. I was on WIFI but not browsing, had MS Word open in the background, with full screen brightness. 

I know MSFT claims great battery life with the Surface, but this seems pretty poor as compared to a Mac. I know we can't compare apples to apples here, but I am wondering if I have a battery problem or does the Surface just not get great battery life?

Which version of Chrome? Chrome is notorious at killing battery life on Windows Devices, Google basically uses a trick to keep Chrome's binary in CPU for a performance boost, but it never allows the CPU to idle impacting battery life.

Where you also using Chromecast to project? Its another battery killer on Windows.

They've been doing it for a few years and rumored to working on a fix. I use IE and Office (large Excel Pivots, Writing Briefs and Creating large decks and very heavy inking in OneNote). I get 6-9 hours of battery life.

I just got the surface today, (i5 256) and set it up with a few average programs that I use on my laptop

video player

messenger

itunes

torrent downloader

normal stuff that you would use.

well, after fully charging the surface to 100%, i decided to watch a downloaded 1080p movie Zero Dark Thirty in bed.

all programs were shut off, except the messenger app (it's called Line messenger)

the brightness was reduced to around 30-40%, and raised to about 50-60% 2 hours into the movie.

I was using headphones with the keyboard attached

the entire movie was only about 2 hours and 30 minutes, but the surface shut down before the movie ended..

WTF??

This can't be normal can it? Please help! I was planning on using the surface as a note taking tool, but if I only get 2 hours, this can't be good :(

I get about 2 hours battery life from my Surface Pro 3.

Has anybody here had this problem?

Ok so i've done the video play back test. If you are connected to your WiFi and Home Network streaming movies from your desktop with a balanced power settings and Bluetooth enabled. You get just over 5 hours of watching movies. But if you set to 30% display settings with the bluetooth off you get just over 6 hours of video playback. So reducing the display does help, but kinda reduces the quality of the screen.

But i'm not sure how the iCore 5 gets 9 hours of web browsing if we can only get about 6 hours with the Internet connection turned on of video playback. I guess i'll have to test that as well.

I'm not sure how much power does the Bluetooth consumes
