Surface Pro 3 short battery life

I was wondering if I have a defective unit. I have an i5 surface pro 3 and I only get about 4 hours of battery life playing YouTube videos at about 40 % brightness and about 5 hours of web browsing. The computer shuts off when I am just below 10 % battery left. What are you guys getting?

I have the i3 model and clocked it on battery yesterday of doing 6.5 hours before I attached the A/C adapter when it reached 12%, I didn't wait for a warning message.

All I did was install two programs, web browsed, email, and copy data.

I am getting much more than that.

I haven't tried to do what you speak of exactly.

I only notice battery drain when using Junos for VPN
