Just to clarify, this is a known incompatibility issue that has existed for over a year. It only occurs with some brands of TVs (Visio, LG, others). No it isn't the TVs, they work fine with HDMI from laptops. It isn't the cable and resetting the Surface doesn't
cure the problem. The problem is in the OS and or driver. The 8.1 update didn't address the problem. Microsoft has focused there energy elsewhere (new models), so don't expect it to be fixed. It appears it is also a problem with their new RT model.
This was supposed to be my lightweight media control device but it doesn't function as that.
My solution (this is where I punted) was to get a Google ChromeCast and use the Google Chrome browser from my OLD laptops. I will be installing Chrome on my Android phone also. However, Google Chrome does NOT, repeat NOT, suppport Windows RT! (like
I said punted!)
Still no solution for the Surface RT.
