i5/256 Surface Pro 4 overheats and battery drains while 'sleeping'

Split from this thread.

My SP4 gets very hot and drains the battery very fast even though it is asleep. I found it very hot in its sleeve and down to 28% earlier today. Found it dead later in the afternoon. This is one of MANY issues this device has.

(My SP4 is not part of the insider program)

Hi All,

We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.

We recommend that you install this update to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings> Update & security> Windows Update.

To confirm the updates are installed, check Settings> Update & security> Windows Update> Advanced options> View your update history.

Thanks,

Josh

So sorry to hear your story :/ I would say, at this point, write an email to Nadella, he has a personal team who hopefully will help you and your company become whole again or at least make him aware of the severity of your issues. If you can't keep waiting for future updates, I'd also cut your losses and sell your SB on eBay. I'm doing that today, since I now have a fanless SP4 core m that works flawlessly. I tried the latest insider build on the fast ring and Windows Ink is incredible, and battery life sees improvements. That isn't coming out (redstone) until late Fall. My SB, on the other hand, is leaving my house tomorrow after 4 months of unfulfilled expectations.

What's Nadella's email? Has anyone tried this? My surface has this issue and the wake from sleep issue. Actually, double-so since the 4/19 updates.

Today my Surface Pro 4 can't properly sleep again. When I remove it from my bag, it is really hot!

The sleep study shows that it can't enter connected standby.

I am really angry that now it is 6 months after the launch of Surface Pro 4, and we still could not get a computer that can sleep whenever it should sleep!

This is definitely the worst PC I have ever owned!

All firmware and drivers are the newest.
