My SP4 gets very hot and drains the battery very fast even though it is asleep. I found it very hot in its sleeve and down to 28% earlier today. Found it dead later in the afternoon. This is one of MANY issues this device has.
(My SP4 is not part of the insider program)

We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.
We recommend that you install this update to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings> Update & security> Windows Update.
To confirm the updates are installed, check Settings> Update & security> Windows Update> Advanced options> View your update history.

I'm sorry, but your update delayed the commencement of my work by over 4 hours, and the "issue" persists. I am extremely frustrated at having to tolerate poor battery life from a device that cost north of 900 pounds. Thank heavens for your loyal developers!
8 years of using MacBooks has proven otherwise. Perhaps you are referring to mediocre software used to manage very expensive hardware, in which case I am not the least bit surprised to find such a thread on Microsoft's support website.

While I have my surface pro 4 software update done, however my SP4 still suffered the over heating issues yesterday while in sleep mode. Normally when you closed the keyboard cover it will just go sleep and won't turn back on unless you push the power key, but yesterday for no reason it starts over heating with fans on full blast in my cover.
You know this will severely degrade the components life, such as CPU, Memory and battery. Not only that, there is a fire hazard should the battery explode under heat. I can't imagine you guys have no fix this issue yet, it's been close to mid cycle for this surface pro already. If you guys can't solve the problem, I strongly suggest you encourage Microsoft do a recall before anyone get seriously hurt or property damage and destruction.
