i5/256 Surface Pro 4 overheats and battery drains while 'sleeping'

My SP4 gets very hot and drains the battery very fast even though it is asleep. I found it very hot in its sleeve and down to 28% earlier today. Found it dead later in the afternoon. This is one of MANY issues this device has.

(My SP4 is not part of the insider program)

We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.

We recommend that you install this update to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings> Update & security> Windows Update.

To confirm the updates are installed, check Settings> Update & security> Windows Update> Advanced options> View your update history.

    My SP4 has been fine inexplicably since the day before the last update.  Since I used hibernate after 2 hours, I never again experienced wake issues, but when it did go to Sleep, it would get very warm.  So I have a new observation about that issue.

    If I set it to Sleep for all settings, never hibernate (plugged and docked), and push the power button, it goes to Sleep without heat. But if I leave the SP4, after 15 minutes, the screen is set to go off, and it Sleeps in 20 minutes.  Going to sleep that way, it still gets warm. 

    SO, my conclusion is that MSFT may not have entirely fixed this, as it is not sleeping on its own, it requires the act of telling it to sleep (power button). 

    Anyone else notice this?

    I've had 3 hot-bag incidents since installing this update where, while in sleep mode, the surface 4 was overheating and draining the battery.

    I've used the sleep study utility and this is an example of what it reports:

    CPU C0 Time Processor 91% 0:48:08
    CPU C0 Time.Non-attributed Time Processor 73% 0:38:43

    My Srum data shows this:

    \Device\HarddiskVolume3\Windows\System32\LockAppHost.exe [AndrewsPro4] 27188391 19243743 0 0 0 0 0 7944648

    I've confirmed the update has been installed. 

    Any suggestions?

    Have you switched off Fast Startup in Power Options to see if it helps? It has resolved many issues for me including Windows Hello intermittently working and there is NO startup lag once you disable it, otherwise I wouldn't have switched it off. Try it and see what happens.

    Same issue exists for my brand new surface pro 4 and finally after failing all the attempts , took my surface to service centre . They said the the issue is not with the surface but with the intel processor and soon they will provide an update for the issue.And also suggested me , not to put my surface into sleep mode. So we have to wait for the update. I am currently update for what they are provided to the customer. Its a know issue .
