My SP4 gets very hot and drains the battery very fast even though it is asleep. I found it very hot in its sleeve and down to 28% earlier today. Found it dead later in the afternoon. This is one of MANY issues this device has.
(My SP4 is not part of the insider program)

We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.
We recommend that you install this update to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings> Update & security> Windows Update.
To confirm the updates are installed, check Settings> Update & security> Windows Update> Advanced options> View your update history.

I'm still having this issue too even after the Feb firmware updates. My Surface was in sleep during my commute to the office this morning and when I took it out of my bag it was very warm and had drained 11% in 40 minutes.
I ran "powercfg /sleepstudy" and this particular Connected Standby session shows 0% of the time spent in DRIPS mode. Unfortunately when digging into the details of this session, there's nothing concrete to explain why the CPU was active the entire time. Does anyone know how to interpret this, or where else I could look to better understand what was keeping the CPU active?

I have given up on sleep mode. When it comes back, external HDMI is dead and battery is also drained. Need to restart anyway. Best to just shutdown. Thankfully shutting down and restarting is very quick.
I have this problem since last time when I updated my windows. I updated my win about two weeks ago. Idk what to do because not just the battery drains also I have to restart my computer everytime that I want to use.
My Surface Pro 4 has started doing this thing overnight where if I put it to sleep and it's unplugged, it will completely drain the battery until it shuts off (e.g. doesn't go into hibernate or another low power mode) due to lack of energy. During these periods, the sleepstudy report has no data, but you can clearly see that between the line blanking out and the next charging session the battery loses 30-40% of its charge. Any suggestions?
