i5/256 Surface Pro 4 overheats and battery drains while 'sleeping'

My SP4 gets very hot and drains the battery very fast even though it is asleep. I found it very hot in its sleeve and down to 28% earlier today. Found it dead later in the afternoon. This is one of MANY issues this device has.

(My SP4 is not part of the insider program)

We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.

We recommend that you install this update to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings> Update & security> Windows Update.

To confirm the updates are installed, check Settings> Update & security> Windows Update> Advanced options> View your update history.

    update:after the 18,Nov firmware update, although the battery driver is renewed, this issue still exists.

    After the update of threshold 2, my first Surface pro 4 (i5, 256G, 8G) has a battery drain issue during sleep even though the battery saver and airplane mode  are on. 

    I ran the "powercfg /sleepstudy" to get the report, and it showed the system had heavy activities, and there was no "low power period" (the device never went into "deep sleep"). And the charge rate is more than 1000 mW, which means it will drain out all the power in 24 hours sleep.

    It sleeps normally before the Threshold 2 update.

    I went to the Microsoft store and replaced my device twice. However, without installing any third-party software and personal data, Windows Hello disabled, airplane mode and battery saver mode are turned on, these two new devices have the same issue especially after the threshold 2 update. 

    It seems the GPU and CPU are active Around 15% of any sleeping session , and the Soc is stuck in resilience phase, can't go into low-power state (DRIPS) totally.

    P.S.: Another annoying issue is that whenever the charger is plugged in or out, the device wakes up even though the type cover is closed. I just wanna charge it or leave home, I don't expect to use it since the type cover is still closed.

    According to the MSDN file below. A common reason for a connected standby session to have zero percent software and hardware DRIPS is that a critical driver is not loaded on the system.

    Same here. After the November update, I'm seeing SB.PCI0.GFX0 consuming more power during sleep. I wish I knew why :(

    The same issue on my SP4 (i5/8/256), it seems that surface just turns off the display and all other parts are working as they are in use: CPU and HD520 chewing the power.(Windwos hello disabled, Hyper-V disabled, WiFi-standby disabled).

    This issue exists even after TH2 10586build update. Do you have any solution for this now?

    I got to know there might be something stopped the surface to turn into sleep. But I do not know how to find out and disable it.

    I have a new Surface Pro 4 which I reset and updated to the latest November update for Windows 10, so it has the latest drivers, firmware etc. With absolutely nothing else installed, I'm seeing a drain rate of about 4% / hour (1200 mWh) while the device is in connected standby (Hello is disabled for now). The report shows that the Graphics card is active 16% of the time or 20 minutes (the device is configured to stay in sleep for 120 minutes, then go to hibernate), and the CPU is 12%. Oddly enough, the last 3 Connected Standby sessions show 16% for the graphics, and 12% for the CPU each time. Coincidence? Is some sort of period process happening while sleep?

    What the heck is the graphics chip doing while sleeping? Unfortunately, the report isn't very specific - it says no active components.

    What is an acceptable drain rate?
