i5/256 Surface Pro 4 overheats and battery drains while 'sleeping'

Split from this thread.

My SP4 gets very hot and drains the battery very fast even though it is asleep. I found it very hot in its sleeve and down to 28% earlier today. Found it dead later in the afternoon. This is one of MANY issues this device has.

(My SP4 is not part of the insider program)

Hi All,

We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.

We recommend that you install this update to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings> Update & security> Windows Update.

To confirm the updates are installed, check Settings> Update & security> Windows Update> Advanced options> View your update history.

Thanks,

Josh

    Hi SH ,

Me too,my new SP4 is bloody useless ,bought it to work on stock markets and assured the battery life was fine...it is a piece of **** ..2 hours this morning and it is flat and running far too hot...not at all suitable for purpose ,plus some settings keep changing..Bloody pen has failed already, hope it is just the battery ,compared to the MacBook I was using this thing is a dog.

For 2k it is a bloody joke.

I am having the same problem with battery drain when shutoff.  Cant comment on the sleep problems but I have used my Surface Pro only for a few days after owning int for 6 weeks. All updates are complete. Plugged in and used sparingly for 1 day and then shutoff at 100% charged. 3 full days later tried to power it on unplugged and it wouldnt turn on. Then connected the charger, powered on and it shows at 0%. Date is wrong too so the battery must have been completely drained after being fully charged after 3 days. Please help.
