i5/256 Surface Pro 4 overheats and battery drains while 'sleeping'

Split from this thread.

My SP4 gets very hot and drains the battery very fast even though it is asleep. I found it very hot in its sleeve and down to 28% earlier today. Found it dead later in the afternoon. This is one of MANY issues this device has.

(My SP4 is not part of the insider program)

Hi All,

We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.

We recommend that you install this update to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings> Update & security> Windows Update.

To confirm the updates are installed, check Settings> Update & security> Windows Update> Advanced options> View your update history.

Thanks,

Josh

    Hiya Hen

It's not in control panel. The way I did it was to go to 'change account settings' from the start menu. Then to sign in options. There you will see hello and I just had to hit the 'remove' button. Then voila a Surface pro that I can't use to fry my breakfast cos it no longer gets hot enough, and a battery that lasts longer than 2 hours in use.

Still think that Microsoft doesn't give a damn about their customers seeing that they are still selling these with this problem. Wished I had waited a couple more months for the release of the galaxy tab 3 but patience isn't something I've ever been known for.

    Hope this helps you

Thanks - that worked and was easy.

Now showing 8 hours of battery life!

Amazing how one program can use up so much juice and Micro Soft won't even tell us about it. I suppose it's their program and they don't want to admit it.

At least they could come up with an option to only have it working when connected to the mains. At least then we could have a half-way house scenario.

    Many thanks once again.
