My SP4 gets very hot and drains the battery very fast even though it is asleep. I found it very hot in its sleeve and down to 28% earlier today. Found it dead later in the afternoon. This is one of MANY issues this device has.
(My SP4 is not part of the insider program)

We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.
We recommend that you install this update to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings> Update & security> Windows Update.
To confirm the updates are installed, check Settings> Update & security> Windows Update> Advanced options> View your update history.

True... I do not recommend anyone buying Surface Pro 4. Actually this was a fraud. They sell you a computer for more than 1,500 US$ and promise you will get 9 hrs battery life and now I get 2 or 3 at the most, and the battery drain while asleep... so one always has to charge again... Actually after 10 minutes the battery is already at 80%! this is outrageous. One cannot sell such crap products promising one thing and with such result...

My Surface 4 is updated but continues with the issue.
Through lots of trial and error, I think I found the problem. It's Windows Hello. Turn it on: get 5 hrs of connected standby. Turn it off: get 87 hrs of connected standby. You can turn it off by using the 'remove' option in the control panel. _Make sure to restart your machine after turning Hello off!_

I can not thank you enough. Was on the verge of returning my Surface Pro 4 which I only purchased a month ago because of the battery life(could never get it more than 3.5 hours for full charge) and running hot issue. Thought I'd turn to the internet and stumbled over your solution. Now it is showing over 9 hours on full charge and even after a lot of use it doesn't even get warm. Why on earth are Microsoft still selling these with such a fundamental flaw when the solution is here? Do the care so very little for their customers? Thank you once again, I'm now not regretting paying such a premium price for what was nothing more than a hand warmer.
