i5/256 Surface Pro 4 overheats and battery drains while 'sleeping'

My SP4 gets very hot and drains the battery very fast even though it is asleep. I found it very hot in its sleeve and down to 28% earlier today. Found it dead later in the afternoon. This is one of MANY issues this device has.

(My SP4 is not part of the insider program)

Hi All,

We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.

We recommend that you install this update to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings> Update & security> Windows Update.

To confirm the updates are installed, check Settings> Update & security> Windows Update> Advanced options> View your update history.

    That's not true. I chatted with someone from MS the other day and they had heard of it, but it didn't affect the majority of users. But they know.

    Also, MS employees frequent the Answers.MS, and they inform the engineers or whatever they must do. Don't worry, they know.

    But I do want them to acknowledge the issue at least and promise a solution. Without this, I imagine a lot of people will return their devices due to the lack of acknowledgement.

    Is anyone seeing any progress on this issue?  My friend at MS says he still has not heard of a hot fix internally.  Grrrrrrrrr.......

    The Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book are spectacular pieces of hardware, but that is not enough.  

    Like each one on this forum, I spent hours diagnostic and troubleshooting the battery drain issue. Today I decided to search the web for a solution. I Googled " Surface battery" and to my surprise this issue goes back to Surface Pro 2.  Microsoft had 3 years to figure the battery drain problem and they did not. 

    I have the SP2, and used it daily, and I never had any battery drain. 

    My partner has the SP3 and never complains of battery life, at all. 

    There will ALWAYS be people with battery problems. Always. The problem that I'm seeing is that standby is consuming far too much battery. But having the last two Pro devices, I can say that this is a new issue for me... 

    I'm sorry you're having such terrible luck :(... 

    I too would want to return it if I had EVERY problem. 

    Now I'm only having poor standby battery, which I can deal with until they get a few more updates out. I have another 24 days to return it. If they don't fix it, I will return it and continue with my SP2 until issues are fixed.

So I asked myself "why am I doing Microsoft's job for them".  They knew they had problems and yet they released not one but 2 Surface products with too many issues:  

    1- Windows Hello

    2- Freezing

    3- Speaker popping sound

    4- Screen flicker

    5- Massive battery drain

    Solutions:

    1- Disable Windows Hello

    2- Still a problem, very intermittent 

    3-  Still a problem (maybe I should disable audio)

    4- After 3 updates and full restore (solved)5- Disable sleep mode and connected services because nothing works

    WOW... Really... Really... I have to disable everything I bought the device for just to maybe make it works. Should I be using it in safe mode?  I purchased this to get work done and so far I had done nothing but work on troubleshooting the Surface.

    I had a case open with Microsoft to resolve the above issues.  As of now, I'm saving myself a headache and taking this thing back to Costco.  When you spend so much money on an advanced computer, you expected to work out of the box period.
