My SP4 gets very hot and drains the battery very fast even though it is asleep. I found it very hot in its sleeve and down to 28% earlier today. Found it dead later in the afternoon. This is one of MANY issues this device has.
(My SP4 is not part of the insider program)

We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.
We recommend that you install this update to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings> Update & security> Windows Update.
To confirm the updates are installed, check Settings> Update & security> Windows Update> Advanced options> View your update history.

Hi Josh,
On the 17th of Feb, I, along with probably every single user of Surface Pro 4's, breathed a collective sigh of relief that microsoft released an update to address the fact that every other day I would end up carrying a mobile oven in my bag.
So I installed the update and the first couple of times everything seemed to be ok - no spontaneous waking/hot surfaces etc.
However it started happening again.
As an example - please see below from the morning of the 4th March - this sleep study and battery report show that my surface was clearly awake and ate up 25% of my battery whilst in my bag.
This is clearly unacceptable and I thought you guys had found a solution - clearly not. Can you please advise/help/resolve? It's becoming very difficult and frustrating to live with this, especially when you turn up to meetings expecting a full battery and finding its half/all gone.
FYI turning on hibernate is not a viable solution.
Additionally, the surface pro dock decides to constantly 'forget' our monitor configurations after this update - any ideas?

I see my update history ， and the hardware update had been successfully installed.
but see this battery report. battery drained 90% in about 5 hours. it's horrible.

My Surface Pro 4 has started doing this thing overnight where if I put it to sleep and it's unplugged, it will completely drain the battery until it shuts off (e.g. doesn't go into hibernate or another low power mode) due to lack of energy. During these periods, the sleepstudy report has no data, but you can clearly see that between the line blanking out and the next charging session the battery loses 30-40% of its charge. Any suggestions?
I have this problem since last time when I updated my windows. I updated my win about two weeks ago. Idk what to do because not just the battery drains also I have to restart my computer everytime that I want to use.
