i5/256 Surface Pro 4 overheats and battery drains while 'sleeping'

My SP4 gets very hot and drains the battery very fast even though it is asleep. I found it very hot in its sleeve and down to 28% earlier today. Found it dead later in the afternoon. This is one of MANY issues this device has.

(My SP4 is not part of the insider program)

Hi All,

We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.

We recommend that you install this update to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings> Update & security> Windows Update.

To confirm the updates are installed, check Settings> Update & security> Windows Update> Advanced options> View your update history.

    What about exchanging it since it must still be under warranty?  That worked for me.

    I seriously hate Apple's stuff and I wanted to be Microsoft's fanboy but my SP4 has been nothing but nightmares.. One I am so worried the battery will fail prematurely after the first year due to over heating each and every time and second I am afraid this might be a fire hazard when I am not around and it's burning hot.

    Come on Microsoft! This is a serious hazard and I can't believe you guys haven't fixed this issue and the product is already approaching EOL. If this is an hardware issue, please just recall it and fix it for us, stop trying to use software patch to keep our hope alive and only fail us over and over like you have done for the past 6 months.

    Month later I am still highly frustrated by this.  My Surface, purchased about 6 weeks ago, continues to suffer from this bug.   Half the time I pull it out of the bag hot with battery drained.    The update meant to fix this failed to install.  All other updates to today have installed, and I also manually installed the latest driver pack from the microsoft web site dated April 29 and I have turned off Hello.

    Still no luck.  It means I can't depend on the Surface and may have to give up on it.

    Same here. Just update with the May 9th updates, rebooted, logged in and went to do something else. Come back to my Surface, fans screaming, HOT. "LockAppHost.exe" has been running. Surface was docked all the time. Is this thing ever going to work like expected?

    After all this time, I expect it to fail all the time. My Surface never fails to meet these expectations :)
