i5/256 Surface Pro 4 overheats and battery drains while 'sleeping'

Split from this thread.

My SP4 gets very hot and drains the battery very fast even though it is asleep. I found it very hot in its sleeve and down to 28% earlier today. Found it dead later in the afternoon. This is one of MANY issues this device has.

(My SP4 is not part of the insider program)

Hi All,

We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.

We recommend that you install this update to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings> Update & security> Windows Update.

To confirm the updates are installed, check Settings> Update & security> Windows Update> Advanced options> View your update history.

    There is no "Remove" button if it was never set up to begin with. This is what SteveHipkiss already explained: he never turned it on/set it up... so there is no remove or disable option.

    To turn off Hello do the following:

    From Windows Start go to Settings and then select Accounts.

    Next locate on the left side of dialog "Sign-In Options" and click on it.

    Finally click on Remove button to turn off "Hello"

    That's it then close settings and restart your computer.

    I am having the same issue on my SP4 i5/8/256.  Not sure what's going on but I am showing the same symptoms in sleepstudy (heavy drain while asleep and plugged in).  Windows Hello is active.

    Yes - I woke up this morning to find that my SP4 i5/8/256 was HOT to the touch.  It was plugged in and supposed to be in sleep mode.  It's much warmer than when I am actively using the SP4 (like right now).  It seems like it's been doing this the last couple of days.  Windows hello is active.

    Microsoft, help!
