i5/256 Surface Pro 4 overheats and battery drains while 'sleeping'

My SP4 gets very hot and drains the battery very fast even though it is asleep. I found it very hot in its sleeve and down to 28% earlier today. Found it dead later in the afternoon. This is one of MANY issues this device has.

(My SP4 is not part of the insider program)

Hi All,

We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.

We recommend that you install this update to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings> Update & security> Windows Update.

To confirm the updates are installed, check Settings> Update & security> Windows Update> Advanced options> View your update history.

    Interesting, my SP4 is just over one month old and I'm having the same overheating while in sleep issues, and when I check the update log I find "failed to install" for both of those updates mentioned above. I have an m3 processor.

    Me, too, Carlos. I'm using Core M SP4, not any major issues with it until latest update. Battery drains quickly and they have succeeded in making my SP4 heat up my bag just like my old SB was before I sold it. Please please please fix this and stop fiddling with it.

    I'm not showing the 5/24 updates, either. My SP4 started overheating in my bag today at work. I took it out and it nearly SCALDED my hands! Well over the safe range of it being hot! (When I put it in my backpack earlier, it was at 100%, when I took it out at work and it was scalding hot, it was at 4%) ;/ Seriously???!! I think I will contact Microsoft for a replacement. I'm using the core m low end SP4, never had an overheat issue on this until now (whereas on my SB, before I sold it on eBay, had that issue all the time and I couldn't handle it.) So, what do we do now??

    This has always been, and continues to be, severely UNACCEPTABLE. Especially when my Surface Pro 4 nearly burns the skin off my hands (yes, that's how how it was.)

    I have those drivers installed. And since i rolled back to the 14295 build, my sp4 has been quite stable.  

    The hello-camera still seems to have som driver issues though, it doesnät initialize every time I try to use it to log on to windows, but it works most of the time. 

    It seems that the lates build on the slow ring doesn't work to well with the surface hardware. 

    Let's hope the next build is better.  Maybe I should stop the insider builds until the final release this summer.
