Split from this thread.

My SP4 gets very hot and drains the battery very fast even though it is asleep. I found it very hot in its sleeve and down to 28% earlier today. Found it dead later in the afternoon. This is one of MANY issues this device has.

(My SP4 is not part of the insider program)

Hi All,

We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.

I had problems with battery consumption and the OS remaining on due to the High Performance power plan I had selected.

Settings | System | Power and Sleep | Additional Settings, try the Balanced plan.

I have two problems with my Surface Pro 4. It may be caused by misbehaved apps, I do not discard it, but I would need some help in pinpointing it.

The problem: When I put the computer to sleep, or when I close the cover, the computer continues running and eventually gets very hot.

When: Almost always for the last month. I have not been able to identify the culprits. When I click on "Sleep" manually, the screen becomes blank, but I still "hear" the computer on. When I close the lid and put it into the backpack, sometimes it wakes up.

Background processes: I have Dropbox and Crashplan running, but this seems to happen even when they are in "pause" mode, so I am not sure whether they are the culprits.

I have Windows 10, latest build, with the latest updates:

OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Pro

    Version 10.0.10586 Build 10586

I ran sfc to verify there was no disruption in the software. I also have an antivirus (Norton) that reveals nothing.
