I have a new Surface Pro 4 which I reset and updated to the latest November update for Windows 10, so it has the latest drivers, firmware etc. With absolutely nothing else installed, I'm seeing a drain rate of about 4% / hour (1200 mWh) while the device
is in connected standby (Hello is disabled for now). The report shows that the Graphics card is active 16% of the time or 20 minutes (the device is configured to stay in sleep for 120 minutes, then go to hibernate), and the CPU is 12%. Oddly enough, the last
3 Connected Standby sessions show 16% for the graphics, and 12% for the CPU each time. Coincidence? Is some sort of period process happening while sleep?
What the heck is the graphics chip doing while sleeping? Unfortunately, the report isn't very specific - it says no active components.
What is an acceptable drain rate?
Thanks.
