i5/256 Surface Pro 4 overheats and battery drains while 'sleeping'

My SP4 gets very hot and drains the battery very fast even though it is asleep. I found it very hot in its sleeve and down to 28% earlier today. Found it dead later in the afternoon. This is one of MANY issues this device has.

(My SP4 is not part of the insider program)

We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.

We recommend that you install this update to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings> Update & security> Windows Update.

To confirm the updates are installed, check Settings> Update & security> Windows Update> Advanced options> View your update history.

    From the looks of it, this is an issue with the processor and graphics being kept from going into low power state, hence the CPU C0 time and Intel Graphics 520 time being the most. My event viewer shows nothing but the system entering and exiting CS, so there doesn't look to be any events preventing it from going to sleep.

    I hope that MS solve this ASAP, I would like to be able to use this mode without losing all my battery.

    Thanks for your input, but I don't think that's the same issue here. I'm not having an issue with the fun always running.

    I looked at 4th connected standby issue and again, 16% graphics/12% cpu. The percentage is always the same, regardless of how long in standby. It could be 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours, the percentage is always the same. I'll post pictures tomorrow morning. Because of the consistent pattern, I'm wondering if there is some sort of app running in the background keeping it awake. Very odd, considering nothing is installed on it - just what came with the OS!

    I think the latest win10 has some problem.

    Except this problem I also had the problem of high CPU usage (35%).

    It is due to the "windows search filter host".

    And so ,the fan is always running and making noise.

    I have a new Surface Pro 4 which I reset and updated to the latest November update for Windows 10, so it has the latest drivers, firmware etc. With absolutely nothing else installed, I'm seeing a drain rate of about 4% / hour (1200 mWh) while the device is in connected standby (Hello is disabled for now). The report shows that the Graphics card is active 16% of the time or 20 minutes (the device is configured to stay in sleep for 120 minutes, then go to hibernate), and the CPU is 12%. Oddly enough, the last 3 Connected Standby sessions show 16% for the graphics, and 12% for the CPU each time. Coincidence? Is some sort of period process happening while sleep?

    What the heck is the graphics chip doing while sleeping? Unfortunately, the report isn't very specific - it says no active components.

    What is an acceptable drain rate?
