i5/256 Surface Pro 4 overheats and battery drains while 'sleeping'

Split from this thread.

My SP4 gets very hot and drains the battery very fast even though it is asleep. I found it very hot in its sleeve and down to 28% earlier today. Found it dead later in the afternoon. This is one of MANY issues this device has.

(My SP4 is not part of the insider program)

We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.

We recommend that you install this update to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings> Update & security> Windows Update.

To confirm the updates are installed, check Settings> Update & security> Windows Update> Advanced options> View your update history.

    Nothing was plugged in and the device wasn't connected to the dock where the keyboard/mouse dongle stays.

    Do you have any USB devices or dongles plugged in? This apparently causes problems.

    I started getting this issue SINCE the 2/17/2016 update. What should I do?

    Put it to sleep overnight and the next morning it would not turn on. Had to hold down the power button to restart. Went from 80% to 40% and I can't get the sleep study to produce anything. Too early to declare success Microsoft. :(

    edit: Had to log in to the admin account to run the sleep study, not just run an admin command prompt. Looks like "USB composite device" is causing the drain?
