i5/256 Surface Pro 4 overheats and battery drains while 'sleeping'

My SP4 gets very hot and drains the battery very fast even though it is asleep. I found it very hot in its sleeve and down to 28% earlier today. Found it dead later in the afternoon. This is one of MANY issues this device has.

(My SP4 is not part of the insider program)

We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.

We recommend that you install this update to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings> Update & security> Windows Update.

To confirm the updates are installed, check Settings> Update & security> Windows Update> Advanced options> View your update history.

    I have a Surface pro 4, 128 gb i 5 processor.

    My battery lifetime in standby its about 12 hours. My surface use approximately 7-9% battery per hour. I ve tried to turned bluetooth and wifi off. And ive tried to turn windows hello off. Additionally, Ive installed a new driver, but its still doen`t working. What to do now ?

    same issue,

    today I was very scared because I closed type cover on the screen , but the surface is not standby and the fan and processor were used excessively. When I took it back , the tablet was boiling and the fan made ​​a lot of noise.

    I have installed the January 2016 SP4 firmware update, which markedly improved excessive fan use, and problems waking from Sleep. But now when I use Sleep, it gets warm.  For example, I check in the morning after it has been in Sleep for 8 hours, and the back of the unit is quite warm, and this is Plugged and Docked.  It only seems to run warm after being in sleep for many hours, haven't yet determined if there is a threshold of time for this to happen.

    Anyone else experiencing this? I think the firmware fix has not been sufficient.  I think I will return to using Hibernate after 4 or 5 hours of sleep, and perhaps just shut it down for the night.  My older SP3 does just fine on continual Sleep, as have every desktop/laptop I've ever owned.

    Addendum: I wrote this while it was warm, and after finishing this note, it is cool, fan did not come on.  Odd, gets warmer sleeping then when used!

    I also wait before closing the SP4 cover and think this is not just a SP4 issue.

    I had noticed that when shutting down my desktop, and several W10 laptops, that the screen goes black but it takes longer than it used to for the computer to finally shut down.

    On one laptop I had closed the lid as soon as the laptop screen went black and several hours later found the laptop had not shut down.
