There was 2 drivers in my system. I uninstalled the one with the longer title and rebooted and it reinstalled itself. Actually the 12/17 update came 2 days apart. I conducted one myself and nothing changed on my system battery so the next day I called
tec support and we checked and there was another hardware update dated for 12/17 waiting. I have no idea how to obtain links to windows updates. By the way, I confirmed this morning that the battery issue is completely gone now.
Thank your for this information. Could you please post the version, date and exact name of the battery driver from device manager? That would really help.
