My SP4 gets very hot and drains the battery very fast even though it is asleep. I found it very hot in its sleeve and down to 28% earlier today. Found it dead later in the afternoon. This is one of MANY issues this device has.
(My SP4 is not part of the insider program)

We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.
We recommend that you install this update to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings> Update & security> Windows Update.
To confirm the updates are installed, check Settings> Update & security> Windows Update> Advanced options> View your update history.

That's because when you hibernate your system is completely off. If you have a desktop try to hibernate and disconnect with power and it would still work.
I'm running the latest Insider Build and if I hibernate at night with 100% battery, it wakes up in the morning with 100%. I'm seeing no battery loss in hibernation.
Yes, MS is totally aware of this issue. A power mgmt fix is coming "early next year."
I've seen these reports too. Does turning off Fast Startup help? I have not seen my SP4 draw power during hibernation, but I have Fast Startup turned off.
