Split from this thread.

My SP4 gets very hot and drains the battery very fast even though it is asleep. I found it very hot in its sleeve and down to 28% earlier today. Found it dead later in the afternoon. This is one of MANY issues this device has.

(My SP4 is not part of the insider program)

I put mine to sleep last night on 33% battery and in the morning it had lost everything and gone into hibernate. It lasted 7 hours according to the sleep study. The drain was 1,600mW, and interestingly enough I had windows hello turned on since I have really enjoyed using it recently. It didn't seem to affect the drain rate for me.

I have the beta drivers installed which hasn't really made any difference either. I really could do with them pushing out a fix for this, I would love to be able to use the sleep mode.

Surface Pro 4's sleep never work well for me. I just get my old Surface Pro 4 replaced because of its defective touch screen. The new one still suffer from battery draining during sleep for Graphics and other causes.

Whenever I closed the type cover, the system never went cold.

So I run "powercfg sleepstudy" to find the problem.

    1. Intel HD Graphics was always awake during the sleep. For most sleep sessions, it would up for 30% time, for some sleep sessions, it never went to sleep.
    2. CPU was waked up too, but not as serous as Graphics
    3. The new problem since Windows 10 Threshold 2: Microsoft.Messaging waked system a lot of time, mainly for Skype. I didn't install Skype, this must be the integrated Skype Video and Messaging App.

I have said it before, and I hate to state it again: Surface Pro 4's sleep mode has no use at all.
