i5/256 Surface Pro 4 overheats and battery drains while 'sleeping'

My SP4 gets very hot and drains the battery very fast even though it is asleep. I found it very hot in its sleeve and down to 28% earlier today. Found it dead later in the afternoon. This is one of MANY issues this device has.

(My SP4 is not part of the insider program)

We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.

We recommend that you install this update to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings> Update & security> Windows Update.

To confirm the updates are installed, check Settings> Update & security> Windows Update> Advanced options> View your update history.

    I have just analyzed the drain on my Dell via powercfg, just open a cmd with admin rights, go to c:\temp for example and type in "powercfg sleepstudy" and there should be a statistics html file in c:\temp now which will tell you which processes woke up the device and took how much CPU time while in connected standby.     My statistics totally blamed Windows Photo app with 22 minutes total CPU runtime last connected standby... and several other things, a mostly broken WLAN wake mechanism, and oher stuff related to Windows. For example some of the upper programs: Cortana of course, what else...

    Nice thing is you cant totally disable Cortana and it is still totally broken for devices with connected standby and drains battery.

    A normal drain btw is like I said ~0.3-0.35% per hour, which is defined by Microsoft for devices with connected standby.

    It's been mentioned by several people now that Windows Hello does nothing to help. I have never had it enabled and the drain rate in CS is over 1500mW.

    I have massive battery drain since November update on my Dell Venue 8 Pro too, I did already a clean install from newest Media Creation iso, without success. It is a perfectly clean install without any software installed, except Windows 10 default apps + Intel driver package for z3700 Atom from Dell's website.

    Drain is about 1-10% per hour in connected standby, where normal drain was always 0.33%/hour under Windows 8.1!! The drain already was always bad under Windows 10 compared to Windows 8.1, but now it is totally bugged and broken.

    I have already tried to disable WIFI when in standby, without success.

    Also tried http://download.cnet.com/Auto-Mute/3000-2084\_4-75110922.html for fixing the Intel audio preventing sleep, without any help.

    On my Venue 8 Pro there is no Windows Hello though...

    The problem started for me with the Threshold 2 update.

    You may be right, but the overheating for me did not occur until 11/18.  And fortunately it has only done it once and not again.

    Microsoft, JUST FIX THIS!!!
