My SP4 gets very hot and drains the battery very fast even though it is asleep. I found it very hot in its sleeve and down to 28% earlier today. Found it dead later in the afternoon. This is one of MANY issues this device has.
(My SP4 is not part of the insider program)

We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.
We recommend that you install this update to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings> Update & security> Windows Update.
To confirm the updates are installed, check Settings> Update & security> Windows Update> Advanced options> View your update history.

It's very common. And Panos, afaict, was lying through his teeth in the keynote.
With connected sleep enabled, I've never had my SP4 go below 5% per hour battery drain, and after the TH2 update it was closer to 11%.
I've disabled CS with a registry hack and changed my power settings to hibernate after 5-10 minutes (just in case I close the kbd or hit the power button accidentally, as I have - waiting 25-30 seconds to hibernate and then de-hibernate is kind of a pain if you just forgot one small thing).
Last night it went from sleep-hibernate and I turned it on this morning and had 97% battery still remaining.
Can you provide the CS hack?
I've set my power button to perform a shutdown while on battery. I've found the power up process is way faster than a hibernate. I don't leave open work when I stop using the SP4, so I don't need the advantages of hibernate versus shutdown and then a power up.
Fingers crossed ! This is getting annoying.
It's beyond annoying at this stage. And moderators on this forum are giving some conflicting responses -- some say Microsoft is working on the fix and other act as if there isn't even a problem by ignoring it or recommending installing the November 18th hardware update for Surface. Maybe they don't have SP4s or don't use them in battery mode.

I did not experience the battery drain during sleep pre-11/18 hardware update. In fact, before that I was very pleased with everything. The CPU/display adapter drain rates are consistent with other reports so this behavior should be easily reproduced and corrected. I wondering if the drain is occurring during normal operation too because it seems like my in-use battery rate is a bit faster.
