Surface Book 2 won't use dGPU, even with disabled Intel GPU

Hi,

I got an SB 2 with i7, 16GB and the GTX. Both GPUs are shown in the device manager.

If I disable the Intel GPU - which means there is only my GTX activted - the screen output of windows gets laggy and my screensaver is doing like 2fps.

It seems like windwos is not accesing to the GTX. If I do some benchmark, there are still two gpus shown

GPU 0 Microsoft Basic Display Driver

GPU 1 Nvidia GTX 1050

For this reason I disabled also the GTX - means the Intel and the GTX are deactiveted - the windows output ist still the same and shows the same laggy screen. The reason I got this for is, Im trying to start some applications with die dgpu, but theys doesnt run with it.

Does anyone get the same issue?

    Have you contacted Allplan support to see if they can help? There may be a different issue than the GPU.

    Im useing allplan (CAD) software with the gtx but there is no difference between using the intel gpu or gtx.

    For example you can check this video (removed link as it no longer works). In the first sequence you'll see my surface book 2 with allplan and the gtx acting. The second is recorded on my desktop pc. The hardware on my desktop is simliuar (i7-3770, 16GB Ram, Quadro K600). As visible the selecting is takeing much longer on the surface book.

    That's correct, the GTX can only be used as a graphics processor not a display adapter.

    What are you trying to do? I've had no problems using the GTX for specific programs.

    I tried both ways, rightclick the app and then selected gtx gpu and also I did set up the nvidia control panel to lunch this app with the gtx, but it doenst helped.

    Did I understood you right, if I disable the Intel GPU windows doesnt use the gtx gpu for displaying?
