I had an issue this morning where Surface couldn't find any wifi networks (when 5 were in the area) and it was connected the previous night. I solved this issue by searching windows rt for Network. Open Network Connections, find the wifi device and then disable this connection. After a minute - I re-enabled the connection and then it started to work.
Just wanted to share my experience if anyone runs into the same issue. Thanks!

Thank you for your continued interest, feedback and assistance in investigating the Limited WiFi issue on the Surface.
Not all limited connectivity scenarios have solutions that can be controlled by the Wi-Fi drivers of a given device. Limited connectivity scenarios result from a complex interaction of device Wi-Fi drivers, access point firmware, access point configuration, and other environmental factors.
If following the steps in the provided links below fail to resolve your Wi-Fi issue I encourage you to create a new thread.

You will most likely have to do a REFRESH. Most of us has had to do that. For some reason or another the driver gets corrupted. You may also do a trick that most others have done as well as long as you don't have the 8.1 Preview of Windows 8 RT installed.
That trick is to open the Control Panel and go do Device Manager. Look for the Marvel WiFi adapter and "Uninstall" the driver but "DO NOT DELETE IT". When finished, reboot the tablet and it should connect.
Try that trick first and if it doesn't work, then do a REFRESH.

Sorry to hear you are having problems connecting to WiFi.
You should be able to connect to WiFi. Are you getting any errors when trying to connect? Are you able to see the networks and not connect to them?

2013-04-27T14:37:12+00:00 Trust me on this. The last 16.5 years of my career in the Marine Corps was computers in the Aviation community but the first 4 years of my career was a radio operator. I am school trained in both fields. When I started in computers, we didn't have these 'toy computers' like we have today. NO, I had to start out with a antique called an IBM 360. We invented mobile computing, by the way. That antique is actually located in a trailer and comes with four generators. We took that puppy with us to Operation Desert Storm and never had a lick of problems out of it.
No, I use to work with radio equipment that is still classified today and the same with the computer field also. Some of that stuff does make it into the commercial world.though. If you get paid or use Direct Deposit for instance, that has a Marine Corps patent on it. We are not allowed to keep or profit from patents, Congress requires those to go to the private sector for use. The Marine Corps alone has over 5,000 patents. The Air Force, if I remember right, has over 15,000 and they are the ones who actually develop the WiFi you get today for space communications. The patent for WiFi actually goes to a movie actress who came up with the idea "during" WWII to change frequencies in torpedoes. I forgot her name but she was recognized about a month ago on one of the news sites.
No, we actually create a lot of the stuff in the military (or our contractors do) and it is required by Congress that everybody gets to benefit from it.
In my case, I already boxed up my machine last night and it is parked. I am going to pull it out once every 30 days, recharge it, and force it to get online for updates. I think that Microsoft has the second generation of these machines on the market now. They are now signing on schools for bulk sales and from looking on the trend here on the forum that the questions are starting to change from WiFi issues to just basic issues on how to perform certain functions.
There will be no real fix for these first generation machines without actually replacing them. There is a limit on what you can do with software patches. There is a point you have to replace hardware and I think you commented on this before that Microsoft dogged around and killed off all the time to send these machines back for refund/replacement.
NO, we where just goofy and bought the first generation machines because they are 'cool' and unique. Found out different, didn't we?
As for your list your router came up with? Three of those connections are setup for public WiFi and could be the owners of the complexes. Do you have any interference problems with your other computers from your original setup? I did not think so. They seem to handle heavy cross-feed traffic with no problem. NO, it is not the router.
