Bought the base Surface Book from BestBuy. Like a few people in this thread, batteries came at 0%, which I thought was strange. I shut it down at night after both batteries were at 100%, and then the next morning it was at 92%. After one week of being shut down, the thing was completely dead. Sorry, this is unacceptable--I will be returning it.
surface book battery drain while shut down
Split from this thread.
I have been noticing that when I shutdown my surface book, when I power it on the next day the battery has drained some. If I leave it off for a couple of days it will drain down from 100% to around 85% or lower.
I disabled fast startup... and then just decided to disable hibernation altogether. That didn't help.
I have windows hello disabled, but that shouldn't matter anyway since I'm shutting it down, not sleeping.
Some searching and I found a general windows 10 issue with the "Intel Management Engine Interface" driver. Some say that v11 can cause this issue. One solution that I have seen suggested is to go into device manager and in the power management tab for this device uncheck the option that allows windows to power it down to save power. I tried that and it didn't help.
Others have suggested downgrading the driver from v11 to v9 or v10, but I don't know where to get v9 or v10 of this driver that is compatible with the surface book. Anyone know if one of the downloads on Intel's site would be compatible?
So, has anyone else noticed this issue and know of a fix?

2015-12-31T05:15:34+00:00 I have the same issue with my Surface Book Pro. I fully charged it when I left on 12/29. When I got back on 12/30 it could barely start. I am not even enrolled in Windows Hello, but I still have the problem with quick draining battery.

2015-12-31T04:40:14+00:00 I'm suffering from the same thing. This is a known issue that microsoft has addressed. Apparently they will have a fix sometime in the beginning of the new year. Turn off windows hello for now, that should help quite a bit.

2015-12-30T16:58:28+00:00 I have a Surface Book Pro (top of the line model, i7, 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM, etc.) and I love it, EXCEPT, the battery drains about 5-10% daily when it's shut down; not sleep mode or hibernate but literally shut down. I haven't seen a post like this however I have seen loss of battery when in sleep mode.
Has anyone experienced this? Do I have a bad battery(s)?
