surface book battery drain while shut down

Yes, so what I take from that is: you have a good system, I have a faulty one.  Mine is a SB i5 256GB 8 GB ram dGPU model. After a complete overnight shutdown, mine loses 15-20% consistently and only lasts 6 hrs max with light use and battery saver on.

I'm only reporting my experience. The takeaway has to be that there are some Surface Books that do what they are advertised to do.

Depending on how much Lightroom/Photoshop and Visual Studio 2015 work I'm doing, I've gotten anywhere from a low of 8 hours to a high of more than 12 hours of battery life.

I put in my order for mine the next morning after watching Panos Panay introduce the Surface Book at the Microsoft Hardware event.  I was sold hook-line-and-sinker.  I was at my Atlanta Microsoft Store the next morning and they had a Surface Book on demo.  I spent a little time with it and I had to have one.

I have experienced most of the trials and tribulations that have gone with being an early adopter.  But at this point I'm quite pleased with how my Surface Book is working.  I wouldn't give it up.

I'm not sure I agree that 0.12w during shutdown is reasonable. A quick calculation shows that 24 days with this consumption will drain the battery. And again, this SHUTDOWN, not sleep! We have laptops from known competitors which can last 30 days on sleep.

Shutdown consumption should be zero or something very close to that, on the order of a few milliwatts (not tenths of watts...)

So here's what we have so far:

SLEEP: Many people (including myself) suffer a very significant power drain during sleep, which can easily drain a full battery in less then a day and risks overheating when confined in a tight bag.

HIBERNATE: Some people (including myself) cannot resume reliably, requiring a hard and very inconvenient reset/restart procedure and risking data loss/corruption.

SHUTDOWN: Some people experience high-drainage even during shutdown while others (like myself) experience a moderate drainage which is still unacceptable. In either case, shutdown as the only relevant option to power a machine temporarily is an unacceptable solution - certainly not for professional.

I'm expecting Microsoft to address this urgently, which means "work over THIS weekend" and have a firmware update by Monday AM, EST.

I wanted the dGPU model, too, since I work in Photoshop, Bridge and Lightroom for a Photoshop class I'm currently taking. As an amateur photographer, I don't want there to be any system lags, etc. However, after the 12/2 Hardware Update that apparently fixed the Intel HD Driver issues, now my Photoshop has disabled features like Perspective Warp that the video card assists with. I may have been better off with a Surface Pro 3, apparently.

Again. How the **** can ANY laptop lose ANY power if you are in a full shutdown state? 

Plugged in at 100% I shut down. Unplugged, and overnight lost 4%!!!!

How is that possible?????
