Right click the wireless icon by the time -> Open Network and Sharing -> Change Adapter Settings -> Right on the Wireless Adapter -> Properties ->  Click Configure -> Advanced Tab -> Band.

How do you set the adapter to the 2.4 Ghz band?

I have great success by setting the wireless adapter on my Surface Pro 3 to the 2.4Ghz band recently.  Fewer disconnects and decent speeds too.

It pains me to read the replies to the post. This "engineering" obviously has no idea how the wireless display adapter works.  You don't need the internet.  His post specifically states Wireless display adapter.  Stop just reading on or two words from the customers and ready the entire message then take the time to figure out what they care are talking about before you go half cocked and give an answer that has nothing to do with the issue at hand.

Yup - this hits the nail right on the head. This is definitely a bug tying the adapter connection to the display timeout.
