Surface 3 LTE has no internet on HSPA+ network

I'm sorry Barb, happy to see somebody is reading the posts though.

Will do in english from now. Short version of above text: Surface tablets keep failing on multiple levels, updates sofar didn't do Plantje or me any good, the solution I had concocted stopped working after the introduction of build 1703.

Ben een beetje klaar met engels, want niemand leest dit volgens mij en anders gebruiken ze maar Google translate. Als er klachten komen, vertaal ik wel weer.

Ik ken je problemen, ik zit inmiddels op garantie op Surface nummer 4. 1e had geen werkende wifi-radio, 2e en 3e hadden display-issues: 1000-den groene, blauwe en rode punten, ik denk dode pixels. Ik bewaar tegenwoordig de speciale verzend-doos. 

Ik moet windows hebben, want mijn werk-software werkt niet op android of ios. Als die Lenovo wat is, wil ik het graag weten, want zoals jij ben ik alle vertrouwen in dit product kwijt. Misschien is die nieuwe Surface Pro (5) wat, maar in ieder geval is ie iets groter, wat jammer is. Heb erom gevraagd bij de ruil van Surface 3 naar Surface 4, maar daar wilden ze niet aan. Misschien bij de ruil naar #5 in de toekomst...

Sinds de creators-update (build 1703) werkt mijn oplossing niet meer, dus dat was van korte duur. Er is aan de mobiele verbinding een optie toegevoegd: "Windows deze verbinding laten beheren". Als die aan staat, valt er niets te resetten zonder herstarten, zelfs niet op mijn manier. Als die af staat gaan er ook allerlei zaken mis. Ik zou je er geen plezier mee doen.

Ik merk wel dat sinds ik het gratis programma iObit Driver Booster heb gebruikt (14 verouderde drivers, ook al zegt windows dat ze up-to-date zijn) het internet stabieler blijft onderweg. Maak wel een herstelpunt voor de zekerheid, voor je op "ok" klikt. Zelfde HSPA-problemen steken echter nu en dan nog steeds de kop op. De iObit-tip kwam trouwens van binnen microsoft, ik mag en zal niet zeggen hoe.

Nogmaals: mocht je overgaan tot de verkoop van je Surface en de aanschaf van een Lenovo oid, en hij is beter: voeg het dan hier toe als oplossing ;-)

You sounded somewhat angry with me in your reply from april 2nd. So I haven't replied for some time. But you are the only brother in this frustrating problem for the few who have a surface 3 and work on it during commutes. So I'm back. Did the link from Joseph Agu work?

I am now happy with the way my workaround works. First I disable selective suspend (and reboot). Second I copied a small windows-add on called devcon to system32, with which you can reset device drivers from a command promt. Then I automated this in a vbs-script. Also in this vbs-script before resetting the adapter I stop all relevant network-services, after adapter reset those services are started again. This takes about 8 seconds, but can be hidden from view (I made a popup so I know I lost internet). Then in Taskscheduler I created 2 tasks. The first pointing to abovementioned vbs-script. Trigger is an internet-loss-event coupled to my provider NL KPN (so it doesn't fire when wifi is lost). I made it to refire every 2 minutes, untill I traveled out of the LTE-dead-zone. A second trigger on a second task finds this as an event gets called out that KPN has a succesfull registration again. The second task points to a script that stops the first task from repeating untill internet is lost again. This last script also has a popup that states internet connection is re-established (which can be hidden also).

This all sounds pretty complicated but it mounts up to 82kb of standard windows (10) scripts, tasks and the cmd.exe add-on. It doesn't have anything running on the background other then taskscheduler, which runs in the background always, anyway. For it to work for you you should change NL KPN to the exact word used for vodafone, found in eventviewer (also standard). I made a bulleted plan of approach, with scripts, devcon.exe and a history, should you want to read about my journey to this point.

I had on my to do list to send you an E-mail asking for some help with the script. However, my fifth Surface 3 is broken with the same display issue again as well. I've pretty much had it with the Surface 3 and I am trying to find a different solution :(

Joseph, a complete reinstall would be the same or better, right? I have done complete reinstalls and next to that this is my fourth Surface 3 having exactly this issue. The issue occurs in Windows 8.1, Windows 10, with and without all updates installed.
