It was suggested that I open a new thread for this issue that I am having.

Since the Win 10 Anniversary update, I was not able to turn on my Surface Pro 3 i7 512GB with LGC LGC Battery without having it plugged in with the power supply or docking (I own a total of Three Surface Pro 3 Docks at home and 2 offices). It always said "82%, Plugged in, Not Charging", and would always instantly turn off once I pulled off the power supply tab.

I had spoke with a Technical Agent online, had my Pro 3 remote accessed, did all the proposed solutions, and even had a call from Bellevue, WA (I live in Hong Kong) before I found out that it was a software issue as stated by Microsoft.

With Auto Update turned on, I was notified that I should restart my Pro 3 this morning while I was on the docking station. I was happy that this issue was going to be resolved, but now I am disappointed that this firmware update did nothing for my Pro 3.

I'm hoping that someone out there has some suggestions.

Thank You.

Just really tire of the endless loop of battery not charging... battery fully charged... battery not found... update this update that. Looks like there are no cures for the firmware nightmare microsoft sent us that makes our surface pro 3 a SUPER expensive doorstop when moved or touched. I have forgot what it was like to be able to use it beyond the power adapter. The best part was just overnight after a update we all were left with a worthless brick we payed retarded money for.

I figure it couldn't hurt to post this.  January 3rd was an interesting day.   The machine is just a little over a year old.  Shouldn't have these problems!

Hi Amy, sorry I couldn't tell you as my Windows Updates doesn't show any updates older than a week or so.  We used to get a whole list of updates in Windows 7, but 10 takes a little too much out of our hands.  That's how I feel anyway.

Windows 10 and Surface, great products... when they work.

Scott, have you seen a System HARDWARE Update 11/7/2016 in Windows Updates?  I'm trying to find out more about it, and wonder if it might have something to do with this 'new/old' battery issue after the Fimware Update in November.

Would like to count or discount it in all of this.....

Somebody should just bring a class action.

Last time it was averted by patches that seemingly did nothing (except put off the class action) this time around it really should just go ahead.

Microsoft seem to be treating everyone with this problem with contempt.

Out of the perhaps 15 laptops I have owned this one BY FAR has the most hardware and software issues resulting in it being a lemon. All of the others (IBM/Lenovo/Dell/HP) were ultra reliable with flawless performance through the years.

    Problems:

Battery (LGC LGC) fails to charge after 138 cycles!

Wireless card "disappeared" so needed an external USB adaptor

Screen had problems (random touches/blotches) - fixed by patch (that was hidden away)

Screen HAS problems (doesn't register touches even after calibration/reset etc).
