So, love my Surface Pro 3. However, I'm having some issues with the screen and wanted to see how common they are. There's a yellow hazy line down the left-hand side of the screen, about 1/4 of an inch think or so, I'm not sure if was there when purchased my unit shortly after launch or if it's developed in the meantime. It also might be getting worse, but it's hard to tell. I'll note that the screen also shows distortion along this same line when applying pressure on a dark backlit screen (e.g., the boot screen), and that might indicate some kind of adhesion issue that's letting light through. I don't think it's an adhesive issue, but it could be, I suppose; of so, then it's not going away and again I don't remember seeing it when I purchased the machine. Perhaps related, perhaps not, I also have a yellow tint to the left half of the screen. Again, I don't know if this is new or not, or if I just noticed it and now can't un-see it. Anybody else having these issues? I know of at least a few other people who have #1, and I just want to have a sense of whether it's worth swapping out at this point or waiting until some of these hardware kinks are worked out. I have the Microsoft Complete warranty, and so I don't anticipate any issues with swapping for a new replacement at some point. If it's a common issue, however, I don't want to swap until Microsoft has had a chance to fix it.

take anything you're told on eBay with a grain of salt. caveat emptor. not a known issue for massive amounts of people you won't know the real warranty until you get the serial number and attempt to register it. we don't know if it will get worse If it were me, I'd stay away from this "deal". anything that looks too good to be true...

other folks with this issue have gone to a Microsoft Store and exchanged their

SP3's. if these yellow lines are present when the machine is cool, then get it

exchanged as quickly as you can.

Hi all,

I'm in a bit of distress - After anxiously waiting for the Surface Pro 3 release , I finally purchased the Microsoft SP3 with the 4th generation intel vPro i5-4300u processor, 4gb ram, 128gb HD.... and up until now I was quite pleased.

I bought the surface to be used at my office, so I only operated it during usual work hours.... 45 days later to be exact, now it is packed up in the box I bought it in and sitting in the corner. The machine was overheating, fans would run constantly, and two yellow lines developed on the left and right edges. ---- Is this a defect? Cause I was only using the machine for basic web browsing and presentations.

I attempted to initiate a trouble ticket with Microsoft, but it seems their support page is needing support of its own because I got an error loop when trying to submit.

If I went with the MacBook pro with the i7 processor, I would have paid less than what I've spent on the SP3 with the i5 processor and Apple provides excellent support for their business clients.

any thoughts?
