Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

So a friend and I both got the Surface Pro 4 (8gb, i7, 256) and it has been a decent device.  Its great for CAD work (except that Solidworks hasn't figured out how properly display high resolution yet) until you close the type cover to, for example, walk from one room to another to show what you just designed, and bam - the Surface's DISPLAY WON'T TURN BACK ON. The device itself is turned on and running, since the type cover lights up and the camera starts blinking for the facial recognition thingy.  However, its kinda hard to use a tablet when the screen is black and doesn't recognize touch, the track pad, or a mouse. I have left the device alone to let it wake up, just incase it was taking a long time to wake, but it just sat there with a black screen.  The ONLY WAY to get it to turn back on is to do a hard reset, which is absolutely ridiculous. What if I have an unsaved project on the go? It would be nice if, ya know, the device just turned on when you click the power button once, like every other tablet out there.

To clarify, this isn't happening due to large programs since I can have absolutely nothing running and still have this happen.  The exact same thing happens to my friends Surface as well.  The first time I ran into this problem was the very first time I used this device, about 2 weeks ago. I have since had to do hard resets approximately 5-10 times a day to get this thing to turn on.  Btw, it is 100% up to date, there are no viruses (I have Kaspersky), I get no error codes on this issue, and the only programs I have downloaded are Solidworks and Microsoft Office.

    Microsoft, PLEASE FIX THIS.

I close the keyboard and it goes to "sleep".

    I open the cover.

    Nothing happens.

I push a keyboard key and sometimes it wakes.

If not, I push the power button for a second and sometimes it wakes.

If not I push the wake button for a long time and it wakes.

Most computers I have used just wake up with any little stimulus.

I will try the Chrome reinstall suggestion.

    Hi Everyone,

So I've had my surface pro 4 for about over a week, and I've been encountering some problems with it.

The major one is that whenever I press the power button/put the lip up, it fails to wake from sleep. I've seen minimal posts out there regarding this issue, and it only became annoying when I had to give a business presentation and the darn thing wouldn't turn on - not even with a hard reset.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem? HALP.
