Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    I followed the instructions and so far no problems but I have a couple of questions.  The driver software on my i7/8GB/256GB already had a driver named Intel HD Graphics 540.  So is that the same one I just updated or will an updated beta driver have the same name as a previous driver?

    Also, if there is a software or firmware update that doesn't address this driver issue, is there a chance the update will revert back to the older driver?

    Seems several people have already posted a temporary solution which works fine so far. 

    Just go to intel website and download the beta graphic driver and install it manually. 

    You may search back a few threads and find the steps. 

    But I am still so upset that this topic has been updated for a while and it has been more than 10 pages. Why there is no one from Microsoft willing to stand out and speak.

    Even a few words saying that "we have noticed the issue and are trying to fix it" would be no harm and make us confident about Microsoft again. It is so frustrating that they have been silent since day 0

    I'm having issues too - I closed the machine and walked 15 minutes to the client.  Display didn't wake as I was getting ready to present, had to do it old school as my screen wouldn't come on!!  Please fix Microsoft!

    Same problem here.  Just got the i7 SP4 a couple of days ago and had trouble waking it up a couple of times yesterday though I didn't realize what was going on, then today multiple times including during a meeting which was a big problem.

    I found the suggestion early in this thread to press the shortcut Windows key and "p" together twice and that has worked so far as a workaround.  I also set the power option to "do nothing" instead of sleep when closing the type cover because I have to carry it around and close the type cover a lot and that has been when the problem has shown up the most.  It has occurred when the type cover was closed for only a few seconds.

    I'm amazed that there's a problem with something as basic as turning on and off.  I upgraded from the SP3 and I never encountered this problem on it, though there were other bugs I just got used to.  A bug or glitch I can cope with, but not being able to turn on the computer is a big problem.  It's all the more annoying when I can see the red light of the camera on so I know something's awake in there, watching me yell at the blank screen.  I don't have the patience or confidence to start fiddlin' with installing beta drivers, etc as I think I'll create at least 2 more problems for every one I try to fix.  I read a lot of reviews before jumping in to get the SP4 but never saw this issue mentioned.  But 10 pages in this thread and multiple other threads shows it's not just a random occurrence.
