Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

Hi Josh,

I installed all the new updates last night and confirmed they were successful, yet I am still having this very same issue. I've noticed the issue happens more often when I let the SP4 idle and it goes to sleep on it's own rather than pressing down the power button or close lid to put to sleep. I rechecked multiple times today to ensure there were no more pending updates as well. Anything else I may try?

Yes thanks, I did find it needed several restarts. I got a side notice telling me. Unfortunately what I thought was the last one did not do anything when I tapped on it, so I thought all were done. However I went to UPDATES and ran another check and it said everything was up to date. Then I turned it off for a while, then on turning it on, it said there was (yet) another update, which presumably was the one it wanted.

I did all this before reporting my last few replies here regarding the update.

Strangely, after sleeping into hibernation, it told me it was trying to recognise me, but stayed there for a very long time, no red light. I pressed the on/off button a few times and it still locked at this screen.

Finally to get through this (other than long press to turn it off) I used the mouse and managed to get to the password screen and it let me in.

I'm not confident everything is fixed, but we probably all know this already. Waiting for the next one in a few months.

There have been concerns raised in this forum on whether MSFT is hearing our concerns. With their new update on 2/17 it would that they have. I've noticed that in the MSFT store webpages (for example on the Surface Dock reviews webpage) any negative-ish comments are replied back to within a few days. Perhaps if we started giving the surface "real" reviews that reflect our experiences, they may react faster. I doubt MSFT wants bad reviews on their product webpage.

Received my Surface 4 yesterday. I updated it today with the latest and the sleep issue is still persistent. This is very frustrating.
