Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

I installed 4380 last night, and immediately notice the SP4 is much snappier waking up.

Download the 64-bit driver.

Installation - In Device Manager, Display Adapters:
- Right-click Intel HD Graphics
- Click Properties
- Click Driver tab
- Click Update driver
- Click Browse my computer for driver software
- Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
- Click Have disk
- Click Browse
- Browse to where you unzipped the driver, to the Graphics subfolder. You should see a file called igdlh64 there. Select it.
- Click Open
- Click OK
- You should see Intel HD Graphics 520 (or whatever version you have) in the list.
- Click Next - it will install.

I installed the beta display driver 4380. The connection to external monitor via dock was ok.

Thanks for the positive news, same machine. I have insider version running on my other devices, have been hesitant to run insider or mess around with the video drivers to make it easier to return if needed. I guess I put to much faith in getting updated intel drivers rolled out in a timely fashion from Windows Update.

Another tip that may work for some, set your sleep button on the SP4 as shutdown. I did that for awhile but became an annoyance when trying to use without keyboard.

Do not use the 30 second shutdown unless you really need to, I believe this to be a cold stop of the system. Not seeing what is running with the display not waking up, you could be in the middle of installing an update!

I ran into other errors as well. I'm thinking the only behavior to have caused me to reset my SP4 would have been too many cold stops or one during an update. Not sure, but ruined my day.
