Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    You should not have to "make" your USB bootable. That sounds like the instructions for a Surface Pro 3 with Windows 8.1 - You should be downloading a zipped recovery image to your PC, formatting the USB from scratch and then copying the unzipped recovery image to it in full.  Then:

    Step 1: Make sure your Surface is turned off and plugged in.
    Step 2: Insert your USB recovery drive into the USB port on your Surface.
    Step 3: Press and hold the volume-down button while you press and release the power button on your Surface.
    Step 4: When the Surface logo appears, release the volume button.
    Step 5: Follow the on-screen instructions, such as selecting the language and keyboard layout, to enter the recovery tools menu.

    I also had this problem. When this happened to me in the past, I would hold down the power button and wait for it to turn off. A interesting thing i found out is that the touch screen still works, thus you can hold down the button for three or whatever seconds then swipe down to turn off the compute and turn it back on. Although for the surface pro 4 people, you will need to turn on windows hello to unlock the computer. Otherwise it may be very difficult to unlock the surface.

    Why is it that the surface doesn't give you the visuals but the touchscreen still works? Shouldn't they work together?

    Don't use Sleep until Microsoft releases the next Video driver update which should fix the problem.

    Until then use Hibernate.

    I'll start by saying what a beautiful machine the surface pro 4 is...  However, it is unreliable.  I work in a profession where I need to be able to wake my machine up from sleep mode and for it to respond consistently; and my problem is it doesn't. I would say it doesn't even do it the majority of the time.  On the power settings I have go to 'sleep' when I press the button or shut the lid.  This means I expect when I push the button again it will wake up but it doesn't. The keyboard wakes up but the machine doesn't That leaves me with the inconvenience of having to force a restart and the time wasted associated with doing that.  Can anyone help?!?
