Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    Somewhere buried in this thread was a comment that the NEW driver did not work properly with the docking station and another monitor attached.  Can anyone confirm that, or the opposite? Is the new driver working fine with docking and use of another large desktop monitor?

    If it works fine, great, and thanks. If not, then that could be the reason MSFT is not releasing it yet in updates.

    I found the new driver left an external monitor black (connect via the mini HDMI socket, not Docking station) I rolled back.

    I don't have a MS Docking station but do happily use an Anker Hub connected via USB. However I did not notice if the DisplayLink connected monitors worked with the new driver.

    FWIW - it seems to definitely be a video issue as reported.

    It seems you can use good ol' ctrl-alt-del and get its attention that way - which is totally useless if you're in tablet mode and the keyboard is left at home.  

    BTW - mine is a Surface Pro 3 with Windows 10 and all updates.  It seems there are better/updated Intel drivers available but you can't install them.  I've been tempted to short-circuit the "protection" whereby the Intel drivers will not install because it recognizes the driver as "proprietary".  I sure hope Microsoft isn't ignoring the older machines because they have shiny new Surface 4 devices out...

    I have (2) questions in this regard: 

    (1) Why hasn't Microsoft made this suggestion to the many obvious users have this same issue?

    (2) How certain are we that this doesn't negate ant warranty on the SP4?

    1 - They're MS.  Not surprising at all, unfortunately, and other companies aren't much better.

    2 - Why/how on earth would a driver update negate a warranty??  The driver is made by Intel, who makes the display adapter.  Most drivers won't install if they aren't suitable for the hardware you're trying to use them with.  Even so, you can uninstall and revert back if needed.  It doesn't harm the hardware.
