Surface Book 3 Cracked Screen

Microsoft contend that such cracks are caused by User Damage. It is not a defect in the screen. In my case I was also extremely careful in using the device yet the cracked screen spontaneously appeared.

The SB3 also has an inherent design flaw in the way the screen interfaces with the keyboard element when closed. Even slight pressure on the back face of the screen causes flexion and pressure on the top of the screen. The weakest point of the screen are the corners and camera aperture and this is where all the cracks have been happening.

Time for Microsoft to wake up and take responsibility for their poor design.

There is nothing we can do but paying for exchange or take legal action. :(

Compared to support I got with apple this is just awful.

This is a worry! This is my second Surface. The first was spot on - no trouble and served me proud. I replaced it a year ago and accepting the odd flakey moment such as the key board just not responding (generally corrected by switching off/on - the full extent of my IT knowledge), it has been fine.

The a small crack appeared on the corner - irritating but I thought perhaps I had knocked it unwittingly. This week, I went to be and left it open on the desk and returned in the morning to find several cracks across the upper part of the screen. It hadn't been touched, moved, closed, used...nothing.

I came on here to find what I might be able to do about it and have read several pages of disappointment.

Is there a solution?

Sigh.

I used to be the biggest Surface Book fan until I discovered how unreliable they were and how awful msft has been about support with them. I've had ongoing cases with microsoft for almost a year now regarding mysterious cracks that appeared on my screen and they consisted entirely of customer support agents attempting to avoid acknowledging the issue. The cracks appeared on my warranty replacement within 2 weeks of having it, and they said there was nothing that could be done because there was no more warranty (since the original, which also had similar screen problems :(, was the source of the warranty). We all paid way too much money for a laptop to not break while doing literally nothing to it, and i'm upset at how much dealing with support and these fragile and poorly designed laptops has inconvenienced me in both school and work. From now on I will be referring macs to people who ask me for laptop recs :/

Surface Book 3 with hairline crack top left finishes at one of the sensors. Microsoft un help full want me to pay $850. AUD for a refurb. Microsoft needs to find the meaning of customer service.
