Surface 3 4G LTE: "critical" events logged for IA7260 Firmware Update

I have a new Surface 3 4G LTE with Windows 10 pre-installed (purchased 28/10/15 from UK Microsoft Store). It appears to be working smoothly, including the mobile broadband, but from day one Event Viewer has been showing a dozen or so DriverFrameworks-UserMode "critical" events per day, both Event ID 10110 "A problem has occurred with one or more user-mode drivers..." and 10111 "The device Surface IA7260 Firmware Update... is offline due to a user-mode driver crash. Windows will attempt to restart the driver 5 more times..." There's also an associated Application Error ID 1000 for faulting WUDFHost.exe (faulting module ntdll.dll). Despite this, the IA7260 Firmware Update appears in Device Manager (as a hidden device) connected and working under the Surface 3 Modem Device . Presumably the driver is eventually starting so all is more or less well, but it is rather alarming to see the log filling with "critical" errors, and of course the Reliability History rating is pretty much rock bottom. The other (likely) side effect is that Update History shows numerous instances of installing "System Firmware Update - ‎18/‎09/‎2015" - supposedly successfully in each case - presumably this update contains the IA7260 firmware update.

Does anyone else see this issue on the 4G LTE model? And/or any suggestions for remedy? Thanks!

    Now we know, that multiple errors with IA7260 Firmware in Event Log are related to LTE modem.

    What i also noted, sometimes pair of these error messages happens during time, when device is sleeping, in the middle of night or in the middle of long untouched period of time at home or work. So, there might be one more reason for its crushing.

    Answering to Barb's question - yes, i have swapped out my first device, then returned to the Store second one and purchased 3rd one 2 months later. All 3 have LTE and all have this issue, confirmed by many other Customers. I hope MS will finally look it up and fix the problem.

    This issue doesn't seem device specific. The company I work for has over 8000 surface 3's and I can replicate this issue on all of them I have checked. Unsure as to the effects so far as they don't have LTE access yet.

    IA7260 is the Intel® LTE Advanced XMM™ 7260 Modem. 

    Specifically, it's the firmware for the device. It attempts to load upon device boot, crashes, and then loads successfully on a second attempts. This is the "critical error" that everyone is seeing.

    So no, you can't disable it (unless you don't want to use the LTE modem).

    Am trying to get a technical answer for you on this.

    In the meantime, have you ever swapped out your Surface 3?
