Surface Pro 7 charger randomly stops working

I bought my Surface Pro 7 about 5 months ago and the charger has been giving me problems for about a month now. It only sometimes charges and it seems to be random when it does. I have to plug and unplug the charger multiple times in multiple outlets around the house in order for the Surface to recognize it, and when it does I have to leave it be because if I move it in any way, it stops charging again. 

Please if anyone has had this problem or has anyone knows what I could do, it would be appreciated. Not sure if the problem is the charger but it is very frustrating since the device is brand new and I haven't even used it for a year.

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community and posting your inquiry.  

To verify if it's a problem with the charger or the charging port, we suggest the following:

• Try a different Surface Charger and check if the issue is resolve.

• Clean the tip of the charger with a cloth, dirt might be blocking the connection. 

• Try the current charger to a different Surface Device.

We recommend following the steps at What to do if your Surface power supply or charger doesn’t work and requesting service if needed.

    Excluding the power supply (which was changed under warranty with the more powerful model ... maybe there were some problems ...), I have been working very well with my Surface Pro6 and Surface Pro7, for 3 years. Excellent machines.

    I have a similar battery issue. The SP7 charges up to full, so no cord or charger issues. When I go mobile, SP7 battery dies within 2 hours, and I am not using any battery hogging apps. So, I have to be tethered to a wall outlet.

    The online support is awful since they will not send my replacement first, which means I would be without a computer for 3+ weeks, and being without a computer for a day is unacceptable.

    Mine is doing the same, just spent ten minutes at it and I'm now using my phone. Been happening for the last 4 months. Very frustrating. Any comment from Microsoft on this issue? 52 replies is surely a know issue by now.

    I cannot see a single reply from micosoft that suggest a worthwhile remedy or any support what so ever.

    I am totally disappointed and am researching a replacement product - anything but microsoft.
