Surface Pro 7 charger randomly stops working

I bought my Surface Pro 7 about 5 months ago and the charger has been giving me problems for about a month now. It only sometimes charges and it seems to be random when it does. I have to plug and unplug the charger multiple times in multiple outlets around the house in order for the Surface to recognize it, and when it does I have to leave it be because if I move it in any way, it stops charging again. 

Please if anyone has had this problem or has anyone knows what I could do, it would be appreciated. Not sure if the problem is the charger but it is very frustrating since the device is brand new and I haven't even used it for a year.

To verify if it's a problem with the charger or the charging port, we suggest the following:

• Try a different Surface Charger and check if the issue is resolve.

• Clean the tip of the charger with a cloth, dirt might be blocking the connection. 

• Try the current charger to a different Surface Device.

We recommend following the steps at What to do if your Surface power supply or charger doesn’t work and requesting service if needed.

    I believe the cause of the charger to stop working even while plugged in may be related to the screen brightness, hear me out.

    When the screen brightness is above 50%, I would experience the issues with the charger, randomly stop charging and the white light on the plug to turn off while plugged in. I would then perform the "ritual" to get the charger to start working again (disconnect from surface, disconnect from charging brick, reattach in reverse order and it'll work again). But then I would lower the screen brightness to 30-40% and would never have any problems with the charger, during the day or overnight.

    For those who've replied to this thread, perhaps some of you could play with the screen brightness and see if anything changes? I think having the screen brightness above 50% draws a lot of power and my guess is the charger recognizes this power surge and cuts out as a safety feature. If this is actually true then the culprit is either the software within the charger itself or software on the surface responsible for managing high power draws. I'm just brainstorming here since Microsoft's techs gave us the run-around and ignored us for over a year.

    Hi, Thanks for the info but I've tried everything but stand on my head lol, still trying to buy a decent charger for my surface pro, I dont want to give microsoft any more money.

    I have had my surface for about 2 or 3 years with the original charger. This last month my charger would randomly not work and I would have to unplug and then plug it back in from the wall or change outlets. However, today this trick decided to stop working also. I tried everything and the light will not come on. I am going to Best buy tomorrow morning to get a new charger praying this will be fixed. It is really not fun having an unreliable laptop.

    Now I am even more unimpressed as nowhere in my city has chargers in stock. This means I have to wait for one to come in the mail. I am so unimpressed and after reading these comments am feeling like maybe I should just buy a new laptop (NOT MICROSOFT)
