Surface Pro 7 charger randomly stops working

I bought my Surface Pro 7 about 5 months ago and the charger has been giving me problems for about a month now. It only sometimes charges and it seems to be random when it does. I have to plug and unplug the charger multiple times in multiple outlets around the house in order for the Surface to recognize it, and when it does I have to leave it be because if I move it in any way, it stops charging again. 

Please if anyone has had this problem or has anyone knows what I could do, it would be appreciated. Not sure if the problem is the charger but it is very frustrating since the device is brand new and I haven't even used it for a year.

To verify if it's a problem with the charger or the charging port, we suggest the following:

• Try a different Surface Charger and check if the issue is resolve.

• Clean the tip of the charger with a cloth, dirt might be blocking the connection. 

• Try the current charger to a different Surface Device.

We recommend following the steps at What to do if your Surface power supply or charger doesn’t work and requesting service if needed.

    Same problem here with a Surface Pro 6. Charging was OK for 6 months or so, after that problems occurred. Sometimes I have to unplug/plug it 20 times before it starts charging. Have tried about every ritual to see if I can find something reproducible. In the beginning, also the USB port didn't provide any power when the issue arose.

    Last week while on vacation, I found a ritual that appeared to work every time. I first reset the charger by unplugging it for 10 seconds, both ends. Then I connected my USB smartphone to it and connected the charger to mains. The phone starts charging. Then I waited a bit and connected the magnetic connector to the Surface, which started charging too. After that, I could unplug the phone and the Surface continued to charge, every time.

    But yesterday, that stopped working too. When the phone is charging and I connect the Surface, the charger stops completely, both phone and Surface don't charge anymore.

    I will try the suggestions and buy an off brand charger, no way I'm paying another $100+ to MS for an unreliable replacement.

    I have had a lot of issues with the Surface, also SD card drivers and other stuff, this is a substandard product in a nice packaging.

    Oh my fluff, I am so happy I found this thread. I was spending hours trying to figure out why this charging issues are so unpredictable. I pray every single time for it to work…I FEEL SO FRUSTRATED. I have work to do and exams to take. At first I thought it was the battery driver, already tried, worked but then it did not work anymore after window update. Then Battery limit function checked, not use it so it’s not the issue.

    I dont know how I can handle this. Spending money to buy a new laptop is not wise, but keeping this stupid Surface is not wise either.

    I found a ritual that works almost any time. I disconnect the charger, wait 17 seconds, shake the power plug 6 times exactly, blow warm air on it, go to my church to pray for exactly 29 minutes, back home, jump over the charger (both feet in the air), connect it to the Surface and BAM - works lime magic.

    Terrible product.

    I am so glad I have found this thread, I am having the same problems with charging the surface pro7, I was going to buy my husband one for his birthday but decided against it after reading all the negative reviews with the power cord.

    I purchased a surface book charger from Best Buy in Canada but it only charges to 50%, on my surface, can anyone recommend a better charger from Amazon?
