Surface Pro 7 charger randomly stops working

I bought my Surface Pro 7 about 5 months ago and the charger has been giving me problems for about a month now. It only sometimes charges and it seems to be random when it does. I have to plug and unplug the charger multiple times in multiple outlets around the house in order for the Surface to recognize it, and when it does I have to leave it be because if I move it in any way, it stops charging again. 

Please if anyone has had this problem or has anyone knows what I could do, it would be appreciated. Not sure if the problem is the charger but it is very frustrating since the device is brand new and I haven't even used it for a year.

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community and posting your inquiry.  

To verify if it's a problem with the charger or the charging port, we suggest the following:

• Try a different Surface Charger and check if the issue is resolve.

• Clean the tip of the charger with a cloth, dirt might be blocking the connection. 

• Try the current charger to a different Surface Device.

We recommend following the steps at What to do if your Surface power supply or charger doesn’t work and requesting service if needed.

    I am also having this problem but I have moved the plug to different receptacles and wiggle the block plugs along with the magnetic plug into to surface. I purchased my Surface Pro 7 last July 2020 and have had it replaced after just 4 months. Now I am having issues with the charging cord. I for one am starting to become very disappointed in the product. I have always used a laptop and decided to go to the Surface because of it's easy ability to travel with me instead of dragging along my heavier a larger laptop. I feel I need for Microsoft to replace my charging cord in a quick manor as to not be stuck without a way to charge my Surface when it is needed. I don't have the luxury of another computer to use while my Surface is waiting for a charging cord to arrive.

    My surface pro does the same issue. It's absolutely terrible when all of a sudden it will not charge and you're using it for work-from-home. I can't believe a company like microsoft would allow this to happen. I have found no way to fix this and instead pray everytime I need to charge that the charger will work (i've ordered two new ones and they all have the issue). This is definitely a consumer product issue that the entire industry should know and microsoft should fix

    If by this you mean the part of the cable that plugs into the wall outlet can be removed from the brick, I have tried this and gotten no results.

    I just tried to lightly fidget with both the magnetic piece itself and the other end of the brick (the one the magnetic plug is attached to) and neither seemed removable. 

    I too am disappointed because I use a 15" i7 Linux laptop as my main workstation and I've become such a big fan of the surface that I primarily use it despite the smaller screen (until it died and the charger stopped working).

    The portion of the charging cable that magnetically attaches to the surface is removable from the charging brick.

    Disconnect the cable and plug it back into the charging brick. Then put the magnetic plug back on the surface and the light should come on and start charging again.

    This is the only solution I found to temporarily recharge the surface until it dies again.

    I am very disappointed that such a great product can be hindered by such a nuisance like charging cable failure. Hope this helps.
