Surface Pro 7 charger randomly stops working

I bought my Surface Pro 7 about 5 months ago and the charger has been giving me problems for about a month now. It only sometimes charges and it seems to be random when it does. I have to plug and unplug the charger multiple times in multiple outlets around the house in order for the Surface to recognize it, and when it does I have to leave it be because if I move it in any way, it stops charging again.

Please if anyone has had this problem or has anyone knows what I could do, it would be appreciated. Not sure if the problem is the charger but it is very frustrating since the device is brand new and I haven't even used it for a year.

To verify if it's a problem with the charger or the charging port, we suggest the following:

• Try a different Surface Charger and check if the issue is resolve.

• Clean the tip of the charger with a cloth, dirt might be blocking the connection.

• Try the current charger to a different Surface Device.

We recommend following the steps at What to do if your Surface power supply or charger doesn’t work and requesting service if needed.

My daughter got her Surface Pro 7 for Christmas. The charger light went out a few weeks ago. When we went through all the Microsoft 'support' options, we were eventually told to send the computer back for repair (just the computer, not the keyboard or charger). This we did, and they replaced the whole computer . But .... we have the same problem with the original charger. The charger light doesn't come on and the new computer doesn't charge. I can't figure out how to order a new charger from Microsoft under warranty. They don't make it easy, do they ...? Does anyone else know how I go about getting a replacement charger? Feeling cross because this was as huge outlay of money for us. Thank you.

It's been an issue for years now. MSFT has refused to address the issue. I've bought numerous replacement power cords and blocks. It's always the same. You might get a few good days, then it's back to the usual unpredictable charging.

I really regret purchasing a Surface Pro and I doubt I ever do again due to the fact that the issue appears to have persisted through multiple generations and models.

Get it together Microsoft. Your $200 charger is less dependable than the competition's $50 charger and their charger actually works.

I wanted to update you all about the charging cord issue.

After not getting any satisfaction from Microsoft Support I went out on Amazon and order a car charging cord and a house charging cord that are not Microsoft and the were very reasonable and work perfectly.

I got an email from the support person that could not help me with out charging me for something that is under warranty.

His name is Badr Eddine S.

I had asked that this be escalated and he wouldn’t do it.

I hope with all these posts the customers considering a Microsoft product, especially a Surface product they run the other way.

Just wanted to bump that I am also going through the same struggle off charging brick gradually not working at all, even the usb port of it.
