I've turned on my machine and the screen flicks for two second, than nothing happened. When I press the power button, I hear the crackling sound but machine doesn't turn on. There is no solution to fix and warranty is expired. I assume there is some hardware issue.. anyone have the same problem?
Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Crackling Sound
I've had my MS Pro 4 for a few days now. Updates are installed and it's working fine. I hear a crackling or arcing sound every once in a while. It even happens when in sleep mode. Should I be concerned or is there an explanation for this?

2019-01-02T22:35:38+00:00 I called the support and we went through all recent updates. It became clear I had missed a cumulative one recently. The cracking/clicking problem was known to the support by the way.
So for now, on my Surface Book, the problem seems to be solved. I will observe this further of course.
The MS support was very professional by the way. I granted remote access so I had literally just to sit there and wait.

2018-12-29T14:56:43+00:00 There's another thread over here -- more people with the same problem. No responses from Microsoft or moderators. Here is a video of the sound.
This seems to be a pervasive issue across many expensive surface devices. I think it's time we escalated this and made Microsoft pay some attention to their hardware. I have had to replace my device after warranty for a good chunk of money already for a broken fan.... i'm NOT doing it again for this!****Since it is increasingly difficult to get support, especially when warranty is expired, post publicly on social media platforms.

2018-12-29T04:14:51+00:00 Exact same problem like all of you. However, I am on a Surface Book. So clearly the entire surface line is effected.
Is there a solution now? Hopefully we do not have to return our devices. I also noticed that sometimes videos will not stop when I close the lid and frequently I have to restart the browser after opening the lid again as there is no sound in youtube videos for example. It seems like it does not go to sleep properly.

2018-12-26T12:28:26+00:00 I also have the crackling noise on my MS Pro 4 when in sleep mode.. Just 2 weeks ago I had my previous Surface Pro 4 replaced by a new one because of the common screen flicker problem and now this happens. My previous Surface Pro 4 also made the crackling noise when in sleep mode but I thought it was because there was something wrong with my headphones. Well, this is clearly not the case since my brand new Surface Pro 4 has the same issue.. On my old device I figured out that the sound does not appear when I turn my volume off before activating sleep mode. This also seems to help with my new device. But still, it is super annoying and also makes my class mates jump sometimes when I forget to turn of my sound.
