Double tap to left click and drag on trackpad

Greetings all,

The “Tap, then tap and slide one finger in any direction"  gesture to perform a “left-click and drag” is not supported in Windows 8.1 for precision touchpads such as Touch Cover 2 and Type Cover 2.

The “left-click and drag” function can be performed on Touch Cover 2 and Type Cover 2 by holding the left touchpad button down and then sliding a finger in any direction.

We’ll be updating the inaccurate information in Touchpad: A built-in mouse.

Has anyone tried this with a Surface RT 1 and a Type Cover 2?

I simply cannot get click drag to work even with the KB2919355 Windows 8.1 Update 1 package installed.

I have tested with the same Surface RT 1 and Touch Cover 1 and it works fine.

The so-called "precision touchpad" in the Type Cover 2 products does not support this gesture, or Microsoft has not included support in its drivers.  Type Cover 1 works fine because the hardware is different. 

Virtually every other trackpad device for a Windows PC has supported this for years, decades even. I'd like to meet the program manager who made this decision.  The Type Cover 2 touchpads are painful to use on a good day, but the lack of support for this gesture makes them much worse.

This has been working on my Surface 2 with Type Cover 2 for a while now.

same position as you, surface rt 64 gigs typecover 2 and no tap to drag on 8.1 update 1..... any ideas anyone ?

I have been a mac loyalist since 2004, I just received a surface rt as a prize won in a raffle. I bought a keyboard type cover 2 right away to my surprise and disbelief tap and drag which worked on the touch cover was not working on the type cover 2. the surface is such a great product aesthetically pleasing, feels like a good quality built.... but experiences like this remind me why I switched to mac 10 years ago. how is it that in 2014 my portable computing tablet does not support tap to drag? my 1997 Compaq presario was able to operate in that way but this surface rt cant? this is beyond unacceptable. this needs to be addressed stat. this is an embarrassment, Microsoft hasn't made anything ground breaking in years, and now that they might just reel people in with a device like this, they end up screwing up the keyboard. removing flexibility and features to a human interface device is singlehandedly the most absurd thing I have heard. Apple has revolutionized the market by providing users with different ways to interact with out devices, msft on the other hand is doing the complete opposite.

4 hours of surface support later, once again im told that the surface rt does not support gestures of type cover 2. they suggest I contact Microsoft and give them my feedback as there is nothing they can do to help me. I spend the next hour looking for a number to call. or an email address to  send to. nothing is found. I call back customer service and ask to speak to customer relations or some one to handle my complaint, I explain my situation just to be transferred back to the same surface support tech, his name was richard, he was very nice. He looked around and explained to me there is no direct way to issue a complaint as a client and that my best bet would be to tweet @surface.......  This company is a joke.

Here is my personal contact number (content removed). You need to contact me to fix this. Either allow me to upgrade to a surface 2 (which is the only unit which actually works properly with these keyboards) or fix the damn issues.

i will be posting a viral video to youtube where i will blend this tablet in order to voice my miscontent with the way Microsoft is handling this issue which could so easily be resolved.
