Double tap to left click and drag on trackpad

Hello, I was trying to find a way to click and drag by using the Type Cover 2 trackpad without keeping the left mouse button pressed. Most touchpads nowadays register a rapid double click as a "left click and drag" command and, according to the documentation on Microsoft's website, the Type Cover 2 should as well. However, I tried to use the feature both in Desktop programs and UI apps with no success. How to left click and drag without keeping the trackpad's left mouse button pressed?

Edit: called the customer service, and I was told that the team is aware of the issue and that a fix is planned.

With 8.1 update 1, type/touch cover 2 can now perform double tap-drag. All hail lord Microsoft.

Greetings all,

The “Tap, then tap and slide one finger in any direction"  gesture to perform a “left-click and drag” is not supported in Windows 8.1 for precision touchpads such as Touch Cover 2 and Type Cover 2.

The “left-click and drag” function can be performed on Touch Cover 2 and Type Cover 2 by holding the left touchpad button down and then sliding a finger in any direction.

We’ll be updating the inaccurate information in Touchpad: A built-in mouse.

    Thanks for the clarification, is there any plans to add this feature? It would seem like a simple to do software addition.

    Rant commences:

    I was really surprised, disappointed and frustrated to find that this feature was not supported. I didn't think touchpads made in this decade, or this century even, could lack such a standard feature.

    Added to that was the misinformation on your website, and the fact that the first Type Cover has the feature. 

    The Pro 2 is a great product, but come on, this is ridiculous.

    Still not fixed. This is very frustrating and so is Windows 8 (IMHO)!

    What is the ETA for this update?

    Is the update going to add this functionality to the Surface Pro 2 or is the update going to be a website "update" that removes this feature from the description?

    Just so everyone is aware this is NOT a Windows 8 problem.  This is really an isolated issue with the Type Cover 2. The click-and-drag feature works perfectly fine with the original Type Cover 1 under Windows 8.1. It also works (obviously) if you plug in a USB mouse.

    I love the Surface Pro and have no issues with Windows 8. I really hope they add this feature back to the Type Cover 2 in a driver update soon. As of today, I am switching back to my Type Cover 1.
