Double tap to left click and drag on trackpad

Hello, I was trying to find a way to click and drag by using the Type Cover 2 trackpad without keeping the left mouse button pressed. Most touchpads nowadays register a rapid double click as a "left click and drag" command and, according to the documentation on Microsoft's website, the Type Cover 2 should as well. However, I tried to use the feature both in Desktop programs and UI apps with no success. How to left click and drag without keeping the trackpad's left mouse button pressed?

Edit: called the customer service, and I was told that the team is aware of the issue and that a fix is planned.

With 8.1 update 1, type/touch cover 2 can now perform double tap-drag. All hail lord Microsoft.

Greetings all,

The “Tap, then tap and slide one finger in any direction"  gesture to perform a “left-click and drag” is not supported in Windows 8.1 for precision touchpads such as Touch Cover 2 and Type Cover 2.

The “left-click and drag” function can be performed on Touch Cover 2 and Type Cover 2 by holding the left touchpad button down and then sliding a finger in any direction.

We’ll be updating the inaccurate information in Touchpad: A built-in mouse.

    Thank you Microsoft,

    Thats awesome.... if you had documented your product properly in the 1st place i would not have made the purchase. The fact you are not even prepared to rectify the the problem is even more irritating. What a waste of money

    I thought about your post some more and I realized you are incorrect. The gesture DOES WORK with a touch cover 2, it DOES NOT work with the type cover 2. So again, please do not make excuses for a mistake on Microsoft's part, just fix the driver for the Type Cover 2.

    I have tested this extensively and can verify it does work with the touch cover but not the type cover on both new and first gen Surface Pros.

    FIX THIS Microsoft, please.

    I love everything about the Type Cover 2, except for the lack of this feature. The most frustrating thing is that this used to work on the original Type Cover "1". So moving up to a "precision" touchpad in the Type Cover 2 actually regresses to losing this feature.

    I have been using the alternative gesture - hold left finger down and slide. This is a great addition because sometimes you do want to continue the drag but often run out of room on the touchpad. But this should definitely not be a substitute for the conventional double tap and drag. I used to be able to drag a file into a folder or the recycle bin with one figure, whereas I now need two.

    I can't image this isn't just a driver fix. But may be the new precision multitouch gestures on the new touchpad (e.g. swipe in from right) interfere with it?
